@shahor02 this should take care of the problem you found yesterday.

Merging to get this tested in tomorrow daily.

My polaris emulator now runs w/o crashing.

In my short test it speeds up the workflow walltime by ~10%. I'll ask Catalin to run a real Polaris job with the next daily.
